Community Nutrition
Shree Shakti Consciousness Foundation’s Nutrition Program focuses on Distributing Nutritious Food in Adopted Communities
What We Do ?
The kitchens of SSCF operate around the year to make available wholesome nutritious food for adopted communities so as to strengthen the community’s immunity.
In and around adopted communities, comprising of villages near urban cities where SSCF functions, SSCF works directly at the root by preparing and distributing nutritious meals among the underprivileged. The hills, however, come with its own set of challenges and from the date SSCF has established a foothold the volunteers, from time to time, prepare meals in SSCF’s kitchens and distributes the same among villagers from nearby remote villages by inviting them to SSCF’s establishment.
Why SSCF Started The Community Nutrition Programs
Driven with the vision to catalyze a positive sustainable development within underprivileged communities, SSCF in its formative days started close to home and found that many men, women and children in villages around its establishment had weak immunities and physical well – being on account of malnourishment. Deficiency in proper nutrition was acting as a huge deterrent in strive to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Seeing the plight of the people SSCF found strength to adopt these communities and start with its Community Nutrition Programs. Thereafter, as SSCF found success in addressing concerns of those in and around its adopted communities it established a foothold in the hills where it found similar narratives which inspired SSCF to act again.
What SSCF Found
Severely malnourished women, men and children.
Nutrient deficit diet acting as a deterrent in strive to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Compromised immunities leading to poor health.
How SSCF Acted
To address this, we launched the Community Nutrition Program, providing nutritious meals to improve health and alleviate the financial burden of a one-time meal for families. Every month, we organize Bhandaras offering wholesome, traditional food, including:
- Halwa (semolina pudding): A rich source of carbohydrates for energy, fortified with desi ghee for essential fats and calories.
- Chana (chickpeas): High in protein and fiber, supporting muscle repair and digestion.
- Puri (fried bread) and Sabji (vegetables): Providing carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals crucial for a balanced diet.
- Doodh (milk): Packed with calcium and protein for bone health and overall growth.
- Desi Ghee: Known for its healthy fats and its ability to boost immunity and improve nutrient absorption.
