Digital Literacy
Shree Shakti Consciousness Foundation is working towards bridging the digital literacy gap in India
What We Do ?
Democratizing the use of technology for all. Through carefully curated material which is in line with Government approved course curriculum and addresses the use of everyday technology, SSCF strives to create digital native communities at the grass root level. We partner with various NGOs to train primary and secondary school children from villages around Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in the use of computers. We have created 6-month long program which introduces children to endless possibilities by laying the foundation in accessing the digital world.
Why SSCF Started The Digital Literacy Program?
Over the course of the previous decade, we have seen a rapid adoption of digital technologies in almost all aspects of life. From everyday needs such as ordering groceries, to financial transactions and even accessing healthcare remotely. The challenge that we today face as a society though is that while there has been rapid digital transformation, the speed of adoption of technology has not been the same across the board.
When we visited the marginalized communities, we learnt that school children and impressionable minds used cyber cafes to learn the use of computers. We were shocked to find that minors were using the internet for accessing inappropriate material. Without proper guidance and someone to show the true power of digital, large sections of the future of the country were not being afforded a fighting chance to compete with the more privileged sections of society.
What SSCF Found
Children had little to no working knowledge about computers.
Children had a very basic idea of internet.
Children could not operate basic applications like Word, PowerPoint and Excel..
Children had a very basic understanding of English Language.
How SSCF Acted
Digital Literacy Classes themed around United Nations SDG to make children aware of the future the world is striving towards
Digital Literacy Classes are there not for just teaching how to use computers or how to code rather teach the students how to use computers to learn more and more. In order to support the bigger goal English Language Classes were introduced so that students can understand and learn from websites like w3schools and Chat GPT.
Imparting civic sense and making children aware of their Rights and duties as model citizen through internet search driven projects
Our students are aged between 10-17 years and come from all walks of society
Our teachers are seasoned IT professionals with over 15+ years of experience and industry stalwarts in their respective fields.
Ongoing Digital Literacy Programs
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) emphasize the importance of digital literacy in fostering inclusive and sustainable development, especially under Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). Digital literacy is crucial for empowerment, reducing inequalities, and improving opportunities for all.
